TOUR GUY(DE)
Northern General purchased these Guy Arab LUF's in 1954, and had them bodied sumptously by Picktree Coachworks. NGT had a financial share in Picktree, the coach works being based at Bensham, a suburb of Gateshead, quite near the NGT head office and works. The design of the coachwork is alleged to be by Northern "in house", as it were.
See what you think, (through the rather grainy print) but I don't really like it, it seems too heavy, ornate and clumsy looking.
When these coaches were new, they were the pride of the fleet, being used for continental tours.
However this is 1961, not 1954, the coach is now in bus livery and is standing in Lord Mayor's Walk, York on a day trip from the north east.
On their withrawl from service in about 1963 a lot of them went to Samuel Ledgard, the well known West Riding independent.
