Cerulean Warbler - west of Cookeville, Tennessee
When Gene Koziara and I ventured back to Tennessee 3 weeks ago to
improve on our Cerulean and Blue-winged Warbler shots, we found a new spot
on a dead end road where the locals looked right out of "Deliverance"......
well, not really that bad, but the trash and junk on the properties was incredibly
unsightly.
But, we found 3 adult Ceruleans along this road and worked very hard to try and get some decent shots of the birds closer to eye level.
As with most of this species, they are very difficult to get images of birds that are lower down in the tree branches or bushes. This is a high canopy dwelling species.
And like a lot of Warblers, simply do NOT sit still long enough to snap their picture.
But, I did manage that day to get a few respectable images.
Quite a handsome male Cerulean!!! Enjoy!
BTW-- This bird was 43.6 feet away--quite far to photograph a 5" long bird!!!!!
Taken with a NIkon D4 and a Nikon 800mm F5.6 lens with proprietary 1.25X
Teleconverter to give me 1000mm focal length on this image.
