Siobhan's Birthday Cake
So this one was a bit unsettling for me - figurines and novelty - not really my comfort zone! Born to be Wild - that's what it says on the top of the cake behind her head. It was so funny the lovely woman who ordered this, I done her wedding cake earlier in April which consisted of a massive 9 cakes! eek! Anyhew she asked me could I do her a birthday cake for her sister - I thought "ah it'll probably be something simple". Ahem! The brief went thus "about 10 years ago she had a mid-life crisis and dyed her hair, drove a motorbike and wore camouflage trousers and we all laugh about it now. So can I have a short blond hair woman wearing army trousers, with a motorbike with a puppy as she just got a blond labrador pup and something to do with computers on the cake as that's what she teaches". My head literally hurt trying to think what in under god am I going to do! I had a very short time frame too. I knew I didn't have long enough to make a full motorbike as it never would've stood upright, same story with the figurine so I opted for a sitting figure - I really like sitting figurines! I think from now on all my figures will be sitting - gravity you will not defeat me as you've done many a times before! And I made a half-motorbike for the side of the cake which worked out grand in the end I think. The cake looks so simple and scarce with detail now I look at it but I was just sooo delighted to have an actual cake to come out of this because for so long I thought I've no idea what to do! So I'm super happy. Yay! :-D
