Mural at The Shanty
Dave Van Patten and James Carey painted this mural on the east wall of the Eureka bar "The Shanty" in 2018. The characters were inspired by The Beatles *Magical Mystery Tour* album, which Van Patten said were portrayed in a "creepy Jim Henson" style. He added that "a lot of the other influence came from The Shanty bar itself."

Van Patten won a Grammy award in February 2023 for the art on the Grateful Dead 17-CD set, “In and Out of the Garden: Madison Square Garden ’81, ’82, ’83.”
