My 1972-1973 skimboards
Exterior 1/2" plywood, sawing, filing, sanding, resin and a bit of imagination, and I had skim-boards to last almost (so far) forever. The vase/double profile 'tombstone', a Mickey Mouse poster decoupaged (resin-ed on over and underneath) to a variation on the shape..it also has two holes near the base to squirt dual 'rooster tails as it skims along the 1/4" deep beach skim. The Olympic motif was in anticipation of the then-approaching Montreal Olympics, which, alas, still have no skim event ..though snowboards do about the same thing but require Much more clothing and a lift ticket.. The 16 sided Turkish flag, and red Stop sign boards can go for yards on the sand when the water has receded from reach. Great fun , if you haven't tried it!
