Backyard Surprises
This past weekend, while out filling one of my birdbaths, I happened to glance down and spotted three miniscule, itty-bitty, teeny-weeny mushrooms peeking out from under some plants.
Thinking they would make a nice little photo, I wondered what to use to show scale? But then as I was filling one of my suet feeders, I happened to glance down and spotted a cicada shell nestled in the grass. I knew they were around because of their constant sound, but didn't expect to actually find a shell!
Now, with two distinctly different things to get shots of, I decided to combine these gifts of nature into one shot.
** Unfortunately, my camera wouldn't cooperate and focus on the subjects. Even after dozens of shots, this was the best I could manage, so this is mostly to document the presence of cicadas this summer. *sigh*
