Former Securitate building, now Romanian Architects' Union building

This is the former building of the Romanian Securitate. The Securitate, Romanian for Security (official full name Departamentul Securității Statului, Department of State Security) was the secret service of Communist Romania. After the fall of Communist Romania in 1989 the building was demolished by protesters but the lower remaining site survived. From 2003-2007 the building was redesigned and rebuilt (by architects Dan Marin and Zeno Bogdănescu) and the ruin is preserved as a memorial to the Revolution.

Today it houses the Union of Romanian Architects. (and McKinsey & Company)
