Batu Caves is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. (about 15 km north of Kuala Lumpur).

 

The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia.The largest cave, the temple- or cathedralcave has a lenght of 400m and is 100m high and can be reached through 272 steps.

At the foot of the steps is a huge statue of Lord Murugan.(42 m high)

It is a holy place.
