The spiral mosque (the left minaret in the picture) of the Fanar Qatar Islamic Cultural Center is a recent construction. In a few years it has become one of Doha's most famous landmarks. This is not a traditional Qatari mosque but a replica of the Great Mosque of Al-Mutawwakil in Samarra in Iraq. It is located in the Souqs area (Close to Souq Waqif ) a stone throw from the Corniche Street. The spiral minaret dominating the old city is illuminated at night. It is also known as The Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center.
The minaret on the right side (near souq Asiery) is that of the Qubba mosque. (the domes mosque)
