The MARC alternative
Having just alighted at the Amtrak/MARC BWI Station, I nabbed a quick shot of a MARC (Maryland Area Rail Commuter) service departing in the opposite direction, back to Washington Union station. Amtrak provides most of the trains that stop at BWI Airport, but MARC supplements the service, even at weekends. The train is being propelled by one of MARC’s eight Siemens Charger SC-44 locomotives. These were delivered in 2018. The train is composed of four bi-level commuter coaches, plus a single-level coach that accommodates bicycles.
