On my nightstand
A Christmas gift to be savoured, and I have long been a fan of architectural critic Jonathan Glancey. I first paid attention to him when he wrote for The Independent, almost 30 years ago. He paid homage not only to buildings, but also to modes of transport - a man after my own heart. The title - The Journey Matters - is part of my own credo, as I believe that travel is much more than the humdrum business of getting from A to B. Sublime pleasures can lie en route, and not merely at the luxury end. That’s my apologia for being a bus and streetcar/tram nerd.
