With effect from 11 May, the signature Don CeSar Hotel on St. Pete Beach is under new ownership, with the Loews Group selling it to Host Hotels & Resorts for $202.6 million. Thus begins a new chapter in the chequered history of the "Pink Palace". Designed by Henry Dupont and opened in 1928, the Don has experienced bankruptcy, dereliction and flirtations with demolition. One must hope that the new owners can make an enduring success of their new property.
