Leaving Paradise

It’s a hard thing to do. Hard to find it, even harder to go home. The last photo in the series for a while. Here I’m standing on the porch of our magnificent electricity-free beachfront hut at Le Sauvage Island Resort and getting ready for the long journey home -- a 1 hour hour boat ride across the lagoon, an inter-island flight to Tahiti, an international flight to Los Angeles leaving at midnight, a short domestic flight back to the central coast of California the next afternoon and then a taxi ride back to home, civilization, and serious work. A 36 hour journey without a minute of sleep. Worth it? Without a doubt!! My wife and I are already scoping out far-flung, unique places for next year.

I’ll never figure out why those seven stranded castaways were always trying to get OFF Gilligan's Island.
