Sin and Pleasure
To paraphrase the American best selling novelist, Dean Koontz, I say, “I am not a photographer every place that I am, but some places I am my photography is world known.”
When asked about the secret to a great photograph, Ansel Adams replied, “The secret to a great photo is standing in the right place when you take the picture.”
Another successful photographer, I can not remember his name, said, “Take a lot of pictures and a few will turn out good.”
One thing for sure, the need to create is a human condition, we are made that way. Photography as an art is a fun way to get creative. With photography sometimes the ugly becomes beautiful and the beautiful becomes ugly. Rules are meant to be broken, and sometimes the broken rules make the best image. My only advice is: Create your images to please yourself. If you, the photographer, like the photos, you will soon develop a following of others who also like the photos.
But how do we get the creative flow working? Burt Goldman came up with a system he calls, Quantum Jumping. With Quantum Jumping, you visualize that you are going through a door into a parallel universe. In the parallel universe you seek out another you who has mastered what you want to create. Bringing back what you learned, apply it to your creativity.
Even though you may not believe in parallel universes, the visualizing will help you find creative ideas within your self.
In this picture, I worked on using only the light from an oil lamp and candle. Let me know if the me in the parallel universe steered me in the right direction.
