The first shot is a typical one on auto settings#
OK hands up, I used camera AV mode initially.
The camera evaluates the whole scene and sets the shutter speed.
Here the shutter speed is much too high because a white cloudy sky here in the sunny UK is throwing everything out
The 2nd shot was reset with a slower shutter speed to take this into account.
The sky isnt getting any whiter but you get a lot more detail in the previously dark areas.
It looks a lot better.
PS I know most people know this and a lot also have a Point and shoot they cant alter but someone might find it handy.
