3 of the original 8 mills are still standing here and worked in series to drain water from the low countryside. 2 originate from 1672, and the 3rd was built in 1903 to replace the original one after a fire. The 3 mills drained the land by pumping water up 5 meters in total until 1951, when their task was taken over by modern methods.
