Federal Express (FedEx) - McDonnell Douglas MD-11F - N580FE (c/n 48471/558) - Ashton
This MD-11 was delivered new as a standard passenger variant to China Airlines as B-153 in December 1993. It would then fly under the same registration for Mandarin Airlines from November 1995 to November 1998, when it would return to China Airlines service, this time re-registered as B-18152. The aircraft would leave China Airlines service in July 2001, when it was purchased by Federal Express (FedEx) and converted into an MD-11 Freighter (MD-11F) and re-registered as N580FE. This MD-11F also carries the name "Ashton." Federal Express aircraft are usually named after the children of Fed Ex employees via drawing/lottery.
UPDATE (July 2016) - N580FE would be withdrawn from service by FedEx on May 8, 2015 and placed into storage at Southern California Logistics Airport (VCV / KVCV) in Victorville, California.
