PUPATING OCTOBER CADDIS-DICOSMOECUS
A few observations:
1) In the last month, the algae that clings to the rocks has built up significantly. I wonder if it is because the caddis are no longer grazing on it.
2) The cases opening is sealed up and they ALL have begun to pupate.
3) Examination of the nymph indicates that pupation has just begun. No indication of wings yet.
4) Caddis are secured to the rocks in fairly deep water. Must be a survival instinct to survive low autumn stream flows.
5) This is NOT the time of the year I can wear the hip boots that have the rubber soles. Took a nice refreshing dip because I did.
