Raccoons Rags
Ellowyne Wilde simpler dress
When I buy fabric from charity shops to recycle, I only pick pristine pieces of clothing, in mint condition. I never choose anything that has staining, or pilling, or just looks too worn.
Sometimes a sleeve will be stained or ripped. Then I chop that off and use the new-looking undamaged parts.
I wash and condition the fabrics so they are clean and smell nice. Then I cut them up and press the bits, storing them carefully in plastic boxes or drawers.
I fall in love with fabrics as often as I fall in love with dolls! This one is particularly gorgeous. Some kind of pure white cotton muslin, but with different weaves as you go down the grain; a lovely aqua floral print, which isn't too overpowering; and lastly it has silver threads running through it for a bit of sparkle.
It's a dream to hand sew. I have used the machine for the longer seams, but the majority is done by hand.
The gloves are a new design. They're fiddly to make if I hem the ends, so this time I left the finger edge raw, and attached decorative elastic to the wrist edge. They look great and are that bit easier/faster to make than my usual ones.
Sorry for the tl:dr, heh.
