Queen Bee 3

Yay, it's done!

The fabric is some gorgeous cotton silk from Spoonflower, and frankly, it was horrible to sew, but it does give beautiful results and styles nicely. The thinness of the fabric is good for smaller MH sized dolls too. The skirt feels heavy and somehow vintage, and the petticoat (100% cotton lawn and voile) sits well too.

I managed to get the back to accommodate her wings nicely. I didn't leave enough allowance to add snap fasteners - but as long as one can stitch a buttonhole loop, that's never a problem. Make two loops on one back edge, and use seed beads as buttons. It looks great and is a boon when you run out of snaps, or indeed make a measurement error.

Black pure cotton lace was used to trim the skirt, petticoat edges, and the shoulders, and a bit of black mystery ribbon at the waist. Then I coloured two white guipure flowers with silk paints to finish it off. Black and yellow is just perfect bee fabric. I didn't want to go for out-and-out stripy print, so this combination of the two fabrics is just right.
