Peachtree Rock: The Rock

Behold! Peachtree Rock! Ta-DAAA!

 

Balanced precariously on a narrow point, this geological oddity becomes even more geologically odd with each passing year. The ancient sandstone of the Carolina sandhills has weathered in this place to form this bowl-like depression and the rock centerpiece you see. The upper layers of the stone are much harder than the lower, and thus with eons of weathering and in recent years, human meddling, the rock has developed it's ungainly appearance.

 

A low chain fence surrounds the rock but nothing prevents abuse. Grafitti abounds. One day, in mid scribble, it will likely topple and flatten someone...
