IR full and standing 54702 110318

The wide angle makes this look less full than it was or felt! One of the most wedged trains I've been on. Seating capacity per compartment area is 10 in General Unreserved. I counted 28 (although a few were kids but that was more than offset by the several massive bags and sacks). Only four hours of this to Bathinda Junction! I reckon there were well over 3000 people on the paltry 11 coaches. Train 54702, the 08:30 Lalgarh Jn - Abohar Jn Passenger, on Sunday 11th March 2018. Apparently it's always very busy.

To add to the trial the train stood for 30-minutes in the baking heat while they mucked about shunting a parcels van off the front: my litre of water soon went! Apart from sciatica, it wasn't too bad once on the move and chatting to a nice chap (Rajiv) about this and that, but mainly how the Indian's romantic, idealistic view of the UK is nothing like the selfish, mean, greedy, currupt and morally bankrupt reality that 40 years of Tory and Tory-lite rule has made it, helped pass the time. When he got off I was given his wife's seat (much to the annoyance of some others, but for once I didn't much care).

The power was yet another fantastically ballsy recently rebuilt Abu Road WDM3A, 16825 - listening to that truncheon took my mind off the minor discomforts.
