Operation North pole
Metra train 623 uses the 2016 Operation North Pole equipment as it pauses to let off passengers at Des Plaines station on December 9th.
The next day, the train will carry 70+ children who have life-threatening illnesses and their family members on a train ride with Santa as part of a day long holiday experience for the kids.
After the event, Union Pacific officials make every effort to keep the five car train intact for several weeks.
