Small mummy mask

Detail from one of the masks, that were packed inside the canopic vase.

Vase of polished alabaster, roughly cylindrical inside. The lid is human headed; those dedicated to Hapi and Qebehsenuef have beards. The eyes are painted white and black. The vase contains a package in the shape of a human mummy, wrapped in cloth, this is surmounted by a small gilt mask, and the whole fixed in place with sawdust. The mask is made of plaster, gilt outside and painted white inside. The necklace is painted in red and two shades of blue, the eyes are also outlined in white and black.
