A lone Hawthorn on Dartmoor battles the strong winds. I reckon there were gusts of wind that must have reached 60mph, as I was nearly blown off my feet. I shot this at the same time as the full Rainbow over another hawthorn nearby. The lighting was changing all the time which was tricky to shoot but really exciting to watch.
I am beginning to travel further afield for photographic opportunities these days. There are so many great spots within a 50 mile radius. That is why I feel lucky to live where I do.
I really like all the B&W shots I took that day, but this one had a certain presence that stood out from the others. I went for a higher contrast than usual to add to the dramatic clouds and lighting. Hope you enjoy, and keep up the great work, i have seen some amazing Autumn shots from all of my contacts recently. You humble me.
10-22mm, polariser and Lee filters.
Exposure: 0.2 sec (1/5) Check out the movement in the fg bracken for 0.2 of a second exposure! It was really windy.
Aperture: f/16.0
Focal Length: 15 mm
ISO Speed: 100
