Intervention - Yoko
Jake Platt, a former Cornish student and Seattelite, was visiting Cincinattis contemporary art museum, and he read Ono's artist statement that 'no one can tell you not to touch the art', literally. She had a series of simple paintings along the walls consisting of a blck line through a white field that represented the horizon by continuing on all the canvases in the same way. Platt took out a red marker and started underlining the black lines. The work was valued at $246,000 dollars. Ono, though long a fan of audience participation, was not pleased. Platt claims that Ono is one of his hero's and assumed she would appreciate his actions.
