Piercing Blue Eyes

CDV of a young man, with eyes that could look right through you, by Atkinson's Railroad Gallery. Charles and Jane Atkinson had a studio in a railroad car, that could be left on a siding in any given community, for a period of days or weeks. They were out of Galva, Henry County, Illinois, in the 1880 period. They were husband and wife, both photographers. There is something about this photograph, that makes me wonder whether it might indeed, be a copy of an earlier cased image, perhaps an ambrotype? Atkinson's did advertise under their backmark, that such copies were a specialty of their's.
