Domino Effect

Balfour Beatty 20 905 leads sister locomotive 20 901 on a light engine move, 0Z20, from Woking to Ashford. During the past week the veteran locos had been used on 'Drain Train' workings in the Ascot/Bagshot area.

The leading loco entered service as D8325 in Scotland's Polmadie depot in November 1967. It was one of the last eleven of the class to be built, and has carried it's present number since 1989.

20 905 carries an early 1980s style 'domino' style headcode panel of two white spots, similar to a 'double 1' domino. This would have replaced the original 4 character headcode blinds.

I was very pleased to capture this working, which I'm guessing would normally have reversed at Redhill and run direct from there to Ashford. Currently though the route between Redhill and Tonbridge is closed for upgrade work, so a route via the south London suburbs was planned instead.
