Roatan-Alex

While traveling in Roatan we were heading out for a Mangrove tour, but the boat was having some engine issues. Alex and his taxi boat stopped lend assistance to assist. After discussions, it was decided that Alex would take up duties as our driver and the other boat would go for repair. We had a great time traveling the Mangroves and seeing the sites. This picture was taken at the halfway point while Orin, Sierra, and Stellar were swimming and I was taking pictures. Alex posed and I took a couple snaps, did a quick edit and then printed a few out on my Canon Ivy printer, just like I did for Roger a couple days before. Alex was super happy and eventually broke down in tears or joy as he thought about giving the pictures to his mom. It's amazing the effect that a picture can have in the hand, and that one reason I love printing pictures; there's just something about holding a picture, a moment, in your hand and being able to hang it for viewing or give it to a loved one.

We met up with Alex the next day for dinner and had great non-lingual conversations as none of us were fluent in the others language.

Stories like this are why we have fallen in love with Belize and Central America; people are so nice and willing to help. Alex was just passing by and saw that we needed assistance, he stopped to help, we spent time together, had meals together, did the best we could to converse and now we have a new friend.
