A black 'Saint' at Didcot. The re-creation of a GWR 'Saint' class, 4-6-0 steam locomotive 2999 'Lady of Legend', on static display for the public, for the first time.
Built using the main components from ex-GWR 'Hall' class 4942 'Maindy Hall' 4-6-0, is said to comprise a few original Saint class components. Currently painted in black, it carried replica 'Red Gauntlet' nameplates on one side (see above), and original (owned by the GWS) 'Lady of Quality' on the other.
