Lyme Park

One of the most distinctive features of Lyme Park, the estate surrounding Lyme Hall, former seat of the Legh family, barons Newton, is the Cage. It was built originally during the 1520s as a hunting tower but was rebuilt during the 1730s. At one stage in its history, prisoners were temporarily held there, hence its name.
