Maithon Dam, of the Damodar Valley Corporation, constitutes one of the most accomplished and successful river valley projects of India. The lake at Maithon is spread over an area of 65 sq.kms. On an island in the lake is a rest house which offers accommodation. Boating and fishing facilities are available. The dam is surrounded by lush green forest.
