Hard Times token 1837

A Hard Times token from the United States, dated 1837. Many copper tokens were issued during the financial crisis of the mid-1830s, both to serve as small change when silver coins were being hoarded, and to spread political and satirical messages. This token is making fun of Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren's policies, which contributed to the crisis.
