London transport STL857 (STF1) 1935

London transport streamlined STL experiment on STL857 later to become STF1. The body which was built by LT at Chiswick works had an full front with enclosed nearside, many drivers complained of more noise and poor visiblity on the nearside. It was later rebuilt to standard on the lower deck but the top deck remained as seen here with a steeper rake rearwards , this was in 1938 and the bus again became STL857, the body later becoming STL1167 which was withdrawn in 1950 and scrapped. In 1936 there was talk of a whole batch of simlar STF's being built.
