Life Saving Station No. 7 was built in 1911 It was one of two Life Saving Station in Kitty Hawk. The building design type was developed by Victor Mindeleff. It was called the Chicamacomico Design by the Life Saving Service after a style of building that was built at Chicamacomico on the Outer Banks. In it original form the Chicamacomico Design had a rectangular plan with a broad front-gabled roof. Each side of the roof included three hipped-roof dormers. A square watch tower with a hipped roof was atop the gable at the front of the building. A projecting entrance porch with a front-gable roof supported by stout comer posts was joined on either side to a hipped roof veranda that wraps around the side elevations. There were three tall windows in the front gable above the porch.
Kitty Hawk Life Saving Station No. 7 was in service until 1946. The building went into private ownership around 1965. It was moved to the west side of Beach Road after its foundation was threatened by a storm in 1983. In 2019, when the photograph was taken, the building was available for vacation rental.
