Northern Pacific Railway No. 1102, United States Mail Railway Post Office/Railway Express Agency; Osceola & St. Croix Valley Railroad, Wisconsin, Osceola (4,410-2)
The former Northern Pacific Railway express and mail car owned by the Minnesota Transportation Museum (MNTX) was on display at the 2016 National Train Day in St. Paul. The car was built in 1914 by the Pullman Standard Company as an 86-passenger coach named "Reba." In 1947, Northern Pacific Railway rebuilt the coach car to a triple combine car--passenger, baggage and Post Office. The car was used on branch lines in mixed trains--passenger and freight. In 1965, the car was modified as a training car and renumbered to No. 1931. With NP's merger into Burlington Northern Railroad, the car was retired in 1970. Minnesota Transportation Museum purchased the car from BN in 1976 and restored the car back to the triple combine configuration.
