The one-story double log corn crib is supported on a foundation of loose fieldstone. The structure consists of two storage pens separated by a central drive-through area. The exterior walls are wide set and there is no chinking. The interior walls of the two storage pens do not extend all the way to the roof to allow corn to be thrown over the top into the cribs. Each crib has a floor that was constructed of hand-split boards. The Tipton place corn crib is in the Cades Cove Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places and is a contributing property.
