Pennsylvania, Lawrence County, McConnells Mill State Park, McConnells Mill (6,065b) / McConnells Mill Covered Bridge

The mill was built in 1868 on Slippery Rock Creek, replacing a 1852 mill that burned. Thomas McConnell bought the mill in 1875 and replaced the waterwheel with water turbines and the grinding stones with rolling mills. The mill was one of the first rolling mills in the country. The mill closed in 1928.

The covered bridge was built in 1874 using the Howe truss design. The bridge was rehabilitated in 1998. The bridge, open to motorized traffic, is on the National Register of Historic Places.
