After a run from Dempster-Skokie, CTA Yellow Line run 596 exits Howard station in preparation to turn back and head west to Skokie again. Due to the risk of ice and sleet accumulating on the third rail, (and the need to accommodate anti-icing fluid equipment) Skokie Swift services were running with four cars rather than the usual two.
