Tarr Steps_3
Tarr Steps is a 17 span clapper bridge (a bridge
made of unmortared stone slabs) crossing the River Barle near Withypool, Devon. It is believed to be the longest of its kind in Britain.
It has had to rebuilt at least twice in the last 60 years after major floods in 1952 and 2102 when the two tonne slabs were washed away.
I did not attempt to drive my car through the ford but I suspect a 4x4 would have made it across OK.
