Now THATS a camera

Idly flicking through a book entitled "The Camera never Lies" with Maah Boy came across this photograph.

The Camera was built in 1900 by George R Lawrence of Chicago suppossedly the largest camera in the world at the time.. He was a photographer who specialised in photographing trains but could only get partial shots with what was available at the time, so built this.

It weighed in at over 1400 Lb's and the plates (negatives) were 8 feet by 5 feet. It took 15 men to load and unload it from a specialy adapted truck. A man with a feather duster climbed inside to clean it! The bellows area was 8 feet by 5 feet!
