Location: Inside Piccadilly station.
Advertisements embedded within the floor tiling of the station.
The agenda here is to draw pedestrians attention and lead traffic along these signs, as the message of the advert continues through each tile, progressing and therefore encouraging readers to follow the route of the tiles.
Upon walking past i found myself reading the advertisement and following the path, which leads to the centre of the station. A number of other do too. There are two routes of the tiles leading in opposite directions, creating two definite lanes of traffic.
As advertising techniques go, this is clever as each panel leads on to the next encouraging readers to follow the route it dictates in order to read the full advert. It therefore achieves the advertisers aims as well as creating a more ordered flow of traffic.
This would have been funded by the company on the advertisements. But would most likely have been positioned in this manner by the train station authority to ensure it is beneficial to both parties.
