Volta in Como

The great Italian scientist - and investigator or electricity - Alessandro Volta (1745 - 1827) was a native of Como. (Did you know that Volta invented the battery?) The sculpture here is in a Piazza celebrating his accomplishments. It's the work of Pompeo Marchesi (1783-1858), who was a student of Canova.
