Cottonwood Sunrise, Round Valley, Sierra Nevada 2021

(1 in a multiple picture album)

I was coming home from a shortened fall excursion at Mammoth Lakes. I called off the last day because smoke from the Creek Fire on the other side of the range was muting all the fall foliage scene.

At Round Valley along CA 395 I decided to pull off onto a little road that runs through ranch country. For a moment the smoky air actually accentuated the sunrise colors and I found this cottonwood tree standing out from the golden scene around it.

Enlarge the picture to see the cattle grazing for breakfast.
