A natural paradox

This image is composed of a diverse magnitude of elements, all of which are pertaining to a centralized theme: nature. This image can be interpreted on both symbolic and abstract terms. It can symbolize the competence and diversity of nature as it depicts various contrasting schemes such as a tiger’s eyes, a squirrel’s body, an apple and a banana. The tiger’s eyes in this image are a representation of viciousness, contrasting the kindly and whimsical physique of the squirrel. The apple in this image, substituting the head of the squirrel, enhances the uniqueness of the creature as it distorts the beast itself while adding a tone of red to the piece which contrasts with the green background since red and green are complementary colors. The color of the apple and the background of this piece further enhance the reoccurring theme of opposites. Lastly, the banana that replaces the squirrel’s tail in this image depicts unorthodoxy, illustrating how nature can be erratic and unpredictable. This piece, due to the dense emphasis on dichotomy, creates a harmonized feeling of balance. Nature corrects itself without human intervention and eventually creates a state of harmony and balance. This can be seen in this image through the juxtaposition of the vicious tiger and harmless squirrel. This theme is highlighted once more through the complementary colors in this piece. Furthermore, this image was constructed on Photoshop by cropping the apple and banana and adding it onto the squirrel. The banana was blurred and smudged in order to captivate the texture of the squirrel’s tail. Finally, the eyes of the tiger completed this piece and it was blurred in order to blend with the color of the apple. This contemporary piece reflects the diverse personalities and vigorous emotions of the artist and was created in order to juxtapose the benign body of the squirrel with the ferocity of the tiger’s eyes, illustrating the duality and deviations of nature.
