Belgian Waffles (SOOC)

My daughter had been bugging me to make homemade waffles for a few weeks and I had been putting her off because they are messy and time consuming. So today I agreed to bust out the waffle maker, blew off the dust (we literally hadn't used it in years), and promptly realized I didn't have the necessary ingredients. So, off to the grocery store to buy buttermilk, butter, and eggs because Little K. indicated she was not to be put off another day. Came back, heated up the griddle, mixed up the batter and started cooking. As I was whipping them off the griddle, I called her in, laid out a hot waffle for her and told her she could have a scoop of ice cream on top. Long story short, she ate the ice cream, one bite of the waffle, decided it didn't taste as good as Ego waffles, and went up stairs to watch cartoons.

 

And so the waffle maker goes back into the closet for another decade.
