At the end of its contract life, it was one of several cut-down to a lightweight tractor unit for local shunt duties for lightweight products.
In the case of no.26, it was an inter-site shuttle service for Chapman Envelopes, taking finished product from the factory at Lower Darwen to the finished products warehouse at Guide, Blackburn
Later still, it became the yard shunter at Bowker's Hull depot
