Past and Present

If you look at the rocks on the far side of this stream you can see the traces of sedimentary activity that is probably a billion years or older. These are some of the oldest rocks in North America, bearing all kinds of fossilized secrets, like remains of the first bacteria to inhabit our planet.

 

All of this deep geological age is amazing I think, in juxtaposition with a rushing stream whose waters fly past here one moment and gone the next.
