Pyramid Periphery

With five standing pyramids right in town you can easily spend a week or more exploring in Izamal. Amazing to see life moving along at its own pace next to these ancient monuments. And the sense of geography and discovery is remarkable. We saw the ancient cave entrance to this pyramid, which was apparently built on top of a local water source.
