Zero Waste Tote
Probably the most complex stencil I've cut with my little craft knife, but totally worth it. New tote made from remnants of a travel bag I sewed last year! Yay.
The pursuit of zero waste is so satisfying! I had a decent amount of remnant cotton canvas left from a travel bag I made last year, and after making this new tote with all its inside and outside pockets, I have two small scraps remaining. Almost zero waste! And then, there is the stencil, which was the negative space removed from a stencil project 2 years ago (or is that the positive space?). And the zipper, which has languished in a bin after being accidentally ordered in the wrong size about 7 years ago. And the lace hem tape, left over from the top I sewed last weekend. Almost was able to fashion straps from scrap cotton webbing, but I just couldn’t cobble enough together. Had to buy these lengths new. And the fabric paint for the stencil: a mix of three colors, left over from previous projects.
